An interview with Dr. Heather Koth, Ph.D., LPC

In this episode of “HelloHealth Today,” Dr. Mohan sits down with guest, Dr. Heather Koth.  Dr. Koth is the newest member of the HelloHealth team, a Licensed Professional Counselor, adjunct professor, and experienced leader. Dr. Koth is a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) therapist with specialized training in mindfulness and mindful leadership.  

Dr. Mohan and Dr. Koth sit down for a discussion about mental health and the value of mindfulness and making the day-to-day meaningful.  They further go on to discuss the importance of mental wellness and how it contributes to each individual’s overall health.  Dr. Koth describes the differences between meditation and mindfulness, the details of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and the strength in seeking, and accepting help.  They discuss their personal practices of meditation and mindfulness and the benefits that come along with these practices.  

Dr. Koth gives her personal journey which ultimately led her to a career in service, and simple steps anyone can take to start living life more mindfully.

  1. Ask yourself: How am I fueling my body with food and sleep?

  2. Incorporate mindfulness in some way. It can be done formally or informally.

  3. Have a backstage. It can be a group of friends, co-workers, family, etc. that you check in with regularly.
